Largo Carlo Felice Square

The statue of King Carlo Felice dominates, from above, the boulevard of Jacaranda trees, which explode in all their beauty during late spring. The Largo Carlo Felice (square) is a harmonious blend of history and variety for shopping lovers. The Palazzo Bacaredda, the city hall, and a coffee savoured in the first coffee shops, are the ideal starting points in the spirit of a good living. The historical shops, which will welcome you with high quality creations, alternate with the facilities of the Sant'Agostino complex, to finally emerge into the action of Piazza Yenne (square).

Piazza Yenne Square

It has two faces, Piazza Yenne. In the morning, it is a parade of trays full of delicacies. In the evening, it turns into a nightlife realm. All to be discovered between: laces and doilies, almond pastries meticulously decorated and fresh delights of the nearby marketplace of Santa Chiara. It will certainly leave you a tasty souvenir.

Manno Street

Do not be discouraged by the slope. The stops in the bustling shops of Via Manno (street) make the climb less arduous, spaced out, on one side, by a green glimpse over the Sant'Antonio porch and the homonym Baroque church, and on the other side, by a glance over the medieval walls. Historical brands of clothing and city jewelleries, libraries, full of stories and curiosities, and old original banners, go along with the most renowned international fashion brands. A little detour to the Castello neighbourhood will be a jump into the past: the history of struggle and pride of the city.

Sulis Street

Listening to the notes of a black baby grand piano while drinking a glass of chilled Vermentino, among the recently painted façades and the chic boutiques, that is what expects you when you take the vico Sulis (alley); it is magical. In the space of few years, this small street nestled between the Terrapieno (Embankment) and Piazza San Giacomo (square), parallel to the bustling Via Garibaldi (street), has been revolutionized by the courage of the entrepreneurs of Cagliari. The buildings have been renovated to respect the original guise. The Medieval insides host luxury collections, libraries and art galleries as the studio of the painter Bob Marongiu who paints in front of workshop. They are all worth a walk by with a stop at the bistro and a fine purchase.

Paoli Street

The urban garden on Via Piccioni (street) is a dip in the green neighbourhood of Villanova. Within the narrow streets of Via San Giovanni (street), the apse of the Cathedral opens wide, impressive, up in the Castello neighbourhood. An oasis of peace between Piazza San Domenico, the cloister and the crypt of the same name, is the premise of the return from shopping among the most vibrant shopping streets of the new downtown. In the busy Via Paoli (street) and surroundings, perfumes of tasty food and gleaming shop windows with valuables encourage to stop, to dialogue with the traders of the old and new generations, who every day renew the pleasures of hospitality with high quality products.

Dante Street

Main axis of the new downtown, via Dante (street) connects the port area to the famous Opera House and to the San Benedetto market, alternating the activities of Cagliari’s historical households of trade with the new brands, in a swarm of shop windows and goodness. Pleasant even under the blazing sun, thanks to the tall jacaranda trees that protect the wide sidewalks, where you can enjoy a break from shopping.

 

Alghero Street

Those who love the timeless elegance of the historic fashion houses cannot skip Via Alghero (street). It is a concentration of high fashion and the most innovative brands like the visionary creations of Bob Marongiu, masterpieces of craftsmanship jewellery.

 

Garibaldi Street

The shopping marathon has its beating heart here. It is hard to resist the temptation to update the wardrobe among the pastel coloured buildings, heritage from the historic neighbourhood of Villanova located behind Via Garibaldi (street). Between clothing, leather goods, footwear, and even more, there is something to suit every taste. Even the look will be satisfied, once it will leave the shop windows to wedge in the alleys, to roam on the distant park of Monte Urpinu and the Legion of Carabinieri and to pry upward between balconies and terraces.

Costituzione Square

It is always welcome to have a little pause and to sit for a while. The Piazza Constituzione (square) with the Bastion of Saint Remy in the background, with its candour and its grandeur, is perfect to rest. With its historic coffee shops and mansions, it is the connection point between the historic districts of Marina, Villanova and Castello.

Baylle Street

Coffee shops, restaurants, shops of skilled craftsmanship and clothing: walk on Via Baylle (street) and you will find all of this among its old buildings with a view on the sea. The central axis of the historic neighbourhood of Marina is a kaleidoscope of colours and smiles, nestled between old nurseries, the Baroque façade of Sant’Agostino and the colours of the palazzata.

 

Roma Street

It is the first postcard that you will admire when docking at Cagliari’s port. Via Roma (street), the parlour of the city, is a neat row of mansions and arcades, the so-called Palazzata, which in the early twentieth century has replaced the expanse of fishermen huts. The severity of the Regional Council seat will fade, once you’ll have emerged into the small crossing streets and the multi-ethnic agitation of the Marina neighbourhood. Stop by for a coffee and some sweets with a stunning view on the port.
